North Prairie, WI:  Safety loading speed, load consistency and cleanliness are things every plant wants to optimize in their loadout area.  With that in mind, DYNATEK has released a new control package for its articulating and shuttle loading systems that contributes to the optimization process by largely automating loading conveyor positioning and material flow for truck or railcar loading applications – an “auto-pilot” of sorts.

Automating a DYNATEK loading systems involves adding encoded drive motors and PLC functionality in the control panel.  Programming is then provided to control the conveyor positioning motors, conveyor start / stop, load spout hoist motor and material supply to the loader.

Operationally, in order to accommodate truck and rail car positioning variances, a control pendant is used to position the loader for “load start”.  Once in position, a button on the pendant or HMI command is used to start the automated portion of the loading process.  All loader movement and conveyor operation is controlled by a PLC program.  Once loading has been completed, the loading conveyor is programmed to automatically move to a safe “Home” or “Park” position to wait for the next load-out requirement.

New DYNATEK™ Dual-Discharge Shuttle Loader Maximizes Loading Efficiency for Hopper Trucks & Rail Cars 

North Prairie, WI:  DYNATEK’s newest loader design has quickly earned favorable reviews for the dramatic improvement in efficiency it offers when loading single and/or double trailer (double-doubles) hopper trucks or rail cars with dry bulk solids.

The heart of the new shuttle loading system is a conventional 45 foot-long drag conveyor that features a discharge port on both ends and a drive package that enables the loader to convey in either direction.  The entire conveyor assembly is then attached to an overhead dual end-truck-powered trolley that also runs in either direction.

Using a wireless (RF) pendant control, the operator has the ability to choose which conveyor end to discharge from, which direction to run the conveyor and which direction to move the loader to properly position the selected discharge point.  Brake motors on the trolley drives enable the operator to move and hold conveyor positions with ease.

Loading rates for DYNATEK’s new Shuttle Loader vary from application to application but overall DYNATEK supports designs that can deliver loading rates up to 500 TPH (based on 40 lb. /ft3 material).

DYNATEK’s new Shuttle Loader also takes dust control into consideration.  Since material enters the loader from above, and the loader must be able to move horizontally, the top of the loading conveyor is open but features a “zipper seal” that’s used in conjunction with dust pick-up points on the material supply tube, to capture and control any dust generated by the drag conveyor.  As the loader moves back & forth, the zipper seal separates only around the material supply tube as it passes.  Additionally, dust suppression hoppers or retractable load-spouts are used at both discharge points to minimize the amount of dust generated by the loading process itself.  Click on the “Applications” tab at www.dynatekloadingsystems.com for videos of the Shuttle Loader” in operation.

New DYNATEK™ Articulated Loader Reduces Barge Loading Times and Cost

DYNATEK™ recently released a new articulated loader design that can dramatically improve the efficiency with which 180 x 52 foot, 16-hatch hopper barges can be loaded with dry solids.

Using a traditional barge loading system, it is common for the loading process to require as many as (9) barge position changes and a tug-based, 180 degree barge rotation to access all infeed hatches and fully load the barge. All of the position changes and time that can be spent waiting for a tug to arrive and rotate the barge can easily reduce loading rates to less than one barge per day.

DYNATEK’s solution was to design an articulated dual-arm, loading system that featured a 40 foot reach radius and a rotational range of up to 330 degrees. Using this loading system configuration, a 180 x 52 foot, 16 hatch hopper barge can be fully loaded without the use of a tug at all and with only two winch-based position changes. At a loading rate of 25,000 cubic feet per hour, a barge can be loaded in 7 hours VS a day or more. Fewer barge position changes and shorter loading times significantly reduces loading costs and positively impacts loading safety.
